Following the victory, Kornilov revealed that he broke his hand in the second round, which prevented him from finishing Johnson before the final bell. Despite fighting through the injury for multiple rounds, Kornilov was able to control the fight sufficiently to earn a decision victory on all three judges' scorecards.
