Vadim Nemkov disclosed that kidney problems in 2022 severely impacted his performance, particularly in his first fight against Corey Anderson. He experienced rapid exhaustion during sparring sessions, often fading after the first round despite feeling fine during other training activities. During the Anderson fight, Nemkov dominated the first round but felt completely drained in the second, unable to execute techniques he knew he should be capable of. After consulting doctors and traveling to Thailand for training camp, medical professionals identified the issue and prescribed a legal pharmaceutical solution that resolved his problems. Nemkov has since eliminated all sports supplements from his diet, including creatine, protein, and BCAAs, due to the stress they place on his kidneys, and reports feeling no worse without them.
