Vadim Nemkov disclosed he suffered from kidney problems in 2022 that severely impacted his performance against Corey Anderson. The issue caused him to gas out quickly, lasting only one round in sparring sessions despite feeling fine during other training activities. After the first Anderson fight, where he won the first round but faded badly in the second, Nemkov sought medical help and eventually found a legal pharmaceutical solution while training in Thailand. He has since eliminated all sports supplements from his diet, including creatine, protein, and BCAAs, due to the strain they place on his kidneys. Nemkov now only takes vitamins including omega-3, fish oil, magnesium, and vitamin B. He reports feeling no worse without the supplements, emphasizing that proper nutrition, sleep, and vitamins are sufficient for his performance.
