MMA manager Azamat Bostanov shared detailed memories of Khabib Nurmagomedov's UFC 223 championship victory in Brooklyn eight years ago. Bostanov, then a YouTube journalist, arrived on the day of the infamous Artem Lobov confrontation with Khabib. Despite manager Ali Abdelaziz initially telling Bostanov to stay away from their team, Khabib intervened saying "This is our guy, he's just doing his job." Bostanov recalled 20-30 Dagestanis gathering at the hotel ready to protect Khabib from potential Conor McGregor provocations. After the victory, Khabib's hotel floor was packed with people, many of whom he didn't know, but he still took time to greet everyone, take photos, and speak with well-wishers via video calls despite being exhausted. Bostanov noted that Zabít fought on the same card with two broken fingers that he hid from the athletic commission. Years later, Khabib still showed the same kindness, once recognizing and offering Bostanov a ride in Moscow.
