Vadim Nemkov disclosed that he suffered from kidney problems in 2022 that caused severe stamina issues leading to his first loss against Corey Anderson. During training camp, Nemkov would perform well in the first round of sparring but run out of energy completely by the second or third round. The same problem occurred in the actual fight, where he won the first round but had no gas left in the second despite understanding Anderson's techniques. After consulting doctors and traveling to Thailand for training camp, medical professionals in a Thai hospital identified the cause and prescribed a legal pharmaceutical drug that resolved the issue. Nemkov has since eliminated all sports supplements from his regimen, relying only on vitamins like omega-3, fish oil, magnesium, and B vitamins, and says he doesn't feel worse without protein, creatine, or BCAAs.
