Vadim Nemkov has disclosed that kidney problems severely impacted his performance in his first fight with Corey Anderson in 2022, causing him to fatigue rapidly after the first round. During sparring sessions leading up to the bout, Nemkov would feel fine in the first round but completely run out of energy by the second, with training partners dominating him. The same pattern occurred in the Anderson fight, where Nemkov won the first round but had no energy in the second despite understanding technically what needed to be done. After consulting doctors and traveling to Thailand for a training camp in August, medical staff in Thailand identified the kidney issue and found an appropriate pharmaceutical treatment that resolved the problem. Nemkov has since eliminated all sports supplements from his diet due to the strain they place on kidneys, now only taking vitamins like omega-3, fish oil, magnesium, and vitamin B. He reports feeling no worse without protein, creatine, and BCAAs, emphasizing that proper nutrition, sleep, and vitamins are sufficient.
