Vadim Nemkov has disclosed that he suffered from kidney problems in 2022 that severely impacted his cardio and led to his poor performance in the first fight against Corey Anderson. The former Bellator champion experienced rapid fatigue, being unable to last beyond one round in sparring sessions leading up to the bout. During the Anderson fight, Nemkov won the first round but completely ran out of energy in the second, unable to execute techniques he knew he should perform. After the loss, doctors identified the kidney issue and found an approved medication that resolved the problem. Nemkov also revealed he has completely eliminated sports supplements from his regimen, including creatine, protein, and BCAAs, as they place additional stress on the kidneys. He now only takes vitamins including omega-3, fish oil, magnesium, and vitamin B, and reports feeling no worse without the supplements as long as his nutrition and sleep are proper.
