Vadim Nemkov believes Alexander Ovechkin more recognizable in America than Khabib

Bellator light heavyweight Vadim Nemkov stated in an interview with Ushatayka that he believes NHL star Alexander Ovechkin is currently more recognizable in America than Khabib Nurmagomedov. Nemkov explained that hockey is extremely popular with American youth and Ovechkin's recent breaking of Wayne Gretzky's record keeps him constantly in the news and at the top of sports coverage. He noted that Khabib is no longer as prominent in the news cycle since retiring from competition. Nemkov suggested that children who play hockey in America all know who Ovechkin is due to the sport's widespread participation.
