Bellator champion Vadim Nemkov stated in an interview that he believes NHL star Alexander Ovechkin is currently more recognizable in America than retired UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Nemkov explained that hockey is extremely popular among American youth, with many children playing the sport and knowing who Ovechkin is. He noted that Ovechkin gained massive recognition after breaking Wayne Gretzky's record and continues to set records while remaining in the spotlight. In contrast, Nemkov suggested that Khabib is no longer as well-known because he is retired and not making headlines as frequently. Nemkov believes both athletes would be recognized in America, but gave the edge to Ovechkin based on hockey's popularity and his continued active career.
