ONE Championship has released several fighters from both MMA and Muay Thai divisions. The most notable departure is Gary Tonon (9-2), a highly accomplished grappler who fought exclusively in ONE throughout his MMA career and previously challenged for a title. Also released were MMA fighter Magomed Akaev (10-2), and Muay Thai fighters Stefan Korodi (2-3-0), Amber Kitchen (0-2-0), and Zafer Sayik (0-3-0). While the Muay Thai fighters and Akaev had limited success and media presence in the promotion, Tonon's release is surprising given his grappling credentials and solid record. The post notes that Tonon is one of the strongest and most decorated grapplers on the planet. No official reasons for the releases were provided.
