In a conversation with Robert Kennedy Jr., Mike Tyson described the terrible quality of food he ate during his three-year prison sentence. Kennedy noted that the Federal prison system spends approximately 60 cents per day on inmate meals, which only covers sugar and processed foods. Tyson confirmed that the prison cafeteria sold only donuts, chips, and sugary items with no healthy options, except for an oversalted soup. He stated that such food makes people angrier and contributes to prison violence, sharing that he witnessed inmates attacking each other over minor issues. Tyson also mentioned that his sister died from obesity-related causes and that his mentor Cus D'Amato taught him proper nutrition, which transformed his approach to food and fitness.
