Mike Tyson appeared on Robert Kennedy's podcast to discuss the terrible quality of prison food in the United States. Tyson recalled that during his three years in prison, the food consisted mainly of sugar and processed items, with the Federal Prison System spending only 60 cents per day on inmate meals. He described the healthiest option as dirty, over-salted soup, while the cafeteria sold only donuts, chips, and sugary foods. Tyson believes this ultra-processed food makes prisoners more violent and angry, causing them to fight and hurt each other over minor issues. Kennedy referenced research showing that improving prison food quality reduces violence by 50% and disciplinary actions in juvenile facilities by 70%. Tyson credited his mentor Cus D'Amato with teaching him proper nutrition and now maintains a diet focused on eggs, cheese, and seafood, which he believes is the best for burning fat.
