UFC lightweight Mateusz Gamrot has shared his observations that Poland is cleaner, safer, more hospitable, and in many ways more modern than the United States. Speaking on the "WojewódzkiKędzierski" podcast, Gamrot noted that Poland has had portable payment terminals in restaurants for over a decade, while American restaurants only recently adopted them. He criticized American hospitality, recounting being invited to barbecues twice where he would have gone hungry without bringing his own food, contrasting this with Polish culture of feeding and caring for guests. Gamrot also described American social interactions as superficial, mentioning an incident where his honest response to "How are you?" left someone confused. While acknowledging the U.S. offers advantages for sports careers, he emphasized that quality of life isn't necessarily better there, and even his children prefer returning home to Poland despite beach vacations in Florida.
