UFC lightweight Mateusz Gamrot has stated that Poland is cleaner, safer, more hospitable, and in many ways more modern than the United States. In a podcast interview, Gamrot shared his observations from traveling the world, noting that while Poland has problematic laws and government issues, the entire country maintains high standards of cleanliness and safety. He cited examples of technological lag in America, such as restaurants only recently adopting portable payment terminals that were standard in Poland a decade ago. Gamrot also criticized American hospitality, describing social interactions as superficial and recounting being invited to barbecues where he would have gone hungry without bringing his own food. He emphasized that while the U.S. offers career advantages for sports, life quality isn't necessarily better, noting even his children preferred returning home to Poland despite being on a Florida beach.
