Polish lightweight Mateusz Gamrot has stated that Poland is cleaner, safer, more hospitable, and in many ways more modern than the United States. During a podcast appearance, Gamrot criticized American hospitality, noting he was invited to barbecues where he would have gone hungry without bringing his own food, contrasting this with Polish generosity. He pointed out that Poland adopted portable payment terminals a decade before some American establishments. Gamrot described American social interactions as superficial, recounting how people were uncomfortable when he gave an honest answer to "How are you?" rather than the expected "fine." He acknowledged the U.S. offers career advantages for athletes but emphasized that quality of life is not necessarily better, noting even his children preferred returning to their grandmother in Poland despite being on Florida beaches. Gamrot explained that navigating daily tasks is easier at home where you know the shortcuts, whereas in America "you're always last in every queue."
