UFC lightweight Mateusz Gamrot shared extensive thoughts comparing life in Poland favorably to the United States during a podcast appearance. Gamrot argued that Poland is cleaner, safer, more hospitable, and in many ways more modern than America despite having problematic laws and government issues. He cited examples of American restaurants only recently adopting portable payment terminals that Poland had implemented a decade earlier. Gamrot criticized Americans as superficial and not genuinely hospitable, recounting instances where he brought his own food to barbecues or would have gone hungry. He noted that when he genuinely responded to the customary "How are you?" with actual problems, Americans didn't know how to react. While acknowledging the career advantages of training in the U.S., particularly Florida, Gamrot emphasized that quality of life isn't necessarily better there, and even his children preferred returning to Poland despite being on beautiful beaches. He concluded that being home allows for faster resolution of issues due to familiarity and established networks.
