UFC lightweight contender Mateusz Gamrot stated in a podcast interview that Poland is cleaner, safer, more hospitable, and in many ways more modern than the United States. Gamrot cited examples including advanced payment technology that arrived in Poland years before the US, and contrasted Polish hospitality with what he describes as superficial American social interactions. He recounted being invited to barbecues in America where he would have gone hungry without bringing his own food, unlike in Poland where guests are fed generously. Gamrot noted that while the US offers career advantages for athletes, daily life is not necessarily better, and his children expressed preference for returning to Poland even while on a Florida beach vacation. He emphasized that navigating bureaucracy and daily tasks is easier at home where he knows all the shortcuts.
