Sean Brady revealed additional motivation for his fight with Joaquin Buckley stemmed from their altercation at the Performance Institute. Brady was particularly angered by how Buckley portrayed their PI encounter, making it seem like he had put Brady in his place. Brady recalls that Buckley made comments about his wife and daughter not being able to save him, to which Brady responded by telling Buckley to keep his family's names out of his mouth. Brady was frustrated that Buckley later denied making those statements, saying he hates when fighters behave inauthentically. In a post-fight interview, Brady also mentioned he completely ignored social media for the final eight weeks of camp and wasn't following matchmaking developments, so he couldn't specify which top-5 welterweight he wanted to face next.
