Rico Verhoeven shared a deeply personal account of his father Yos Verhoeven's death by euthanasia in the Netherlands at the age of 56. Yos suffered from advanced Alzheimer's disease, which caused him to lose memory, motor skills, and coordination despite remaining physically strong. Rico described the difficult final day, during which the family spent time together before the procedure. The first injection did not work as expected, and Yos woke up in distress before receiving a second dose. Rico recounted a powerful moment when his father briefly regained full clarity and asked for one last embrace. The entire process took over two hours due to Yos's physical strength and health. Rico, who is not religious, expressed a belief that some form of energy persists after death.
