Quick read
UFC has introduced a new algorithmic ranking system that replaces the previous media-voting model. Under the new system, wins and quality of opposition determine 95% of a fighter's ranking, with finish bonuses providing a small additional boost, while fight statistics such as takedown counts have no bearing on rankings. Fighters face no inactivity penalty until 18 months without a fight, and the value of a win begins to decay after five years and is fully nullified after ten. There will be no pound-for-pound rankings under the new system, and all ranking adjustments are automated with no manual overrides permitted.
