Nick Newell, who lost to Justin Gaethje by TKO in a 2014 WSOF title fight, has reflected on what made Gaethje so difficult to stop, describing him as a fighter whose output and aggression never diminish even when visibly exhausted. Newell said he could hear Gaethje breathing hard during their fight but that nothing changed in his approach, and named Gaethje and Dricus Du Plessis as the only two fighters he has observed who maintain that level of intensity regardless of fatigue.
