Magomedrasul Gasanov has been removed from his scheduled fight against Abubakar Vagaev after a substance in his system raised concerns with the UFC. According to Gasanov's sparring partner Ikram Aliskerov, Gasanov submitted records of everything he had taken over the past six months, tested clean, but UFC flagged a long-lasting prohibited substance — drawing comparisons to past mildronate cases — and pulled the bout as a result.
Magomedrasul Gasanov has been pulled from his scheduled matchup against Abubakar Vagaev after the UFC raised concerns over a substance detected in his system, it was confirmed on June 24, 2026.
According to Ikram Aliskerov, Gasanov's sparring partner, the fighter submitted records of every substance he had consumed over the preceding six months and subsequently tested clean. Despite that, the UFC identified a long-lasting prohibited substance still present in his system and moved to remove him from the bout. Aliskerov drew comparisons to previous mildronate cases, where fighters have tested positive for a substance long after discontinuing its use.

Aliskerov, who brought the situation to public attention, competes at middleweight out of KHK MMA. The 33-year-old Russian carries an 18-2 record and is regarded as one of the more dangerous strikers in his division, landing 6.86 significant strikes per minute at a striking accuracy of 64 percent. He also adds a takedown threat, averaging 3.2 takedowns per 15 minutes.
Why it matters
- The removal leaves Vagaev without an opponent, creating a scheduling gap that the UFC will need to address.
- The mildronate comparison is significant — past cases have shown the substance can remain detectable well beyond the period of use, complicating the question of intent.
- The situation puts a spotlight on how the UFC handles flagged substances when a fighter has voluntarily disclosed their supplementation history and returned a subsequent clean test.
