Johnny Walker has announced his intention to transition to the heavyweight division. Walker stated that he sparred with Francis Ngannou while on a diet with roughly a 20kg weight difference and felt comfortable working with him. He explained that he would feel much better at heavyweight because cutting weight negatively impacts his training, causing dizziness and low energy due to insufficient carbohydrates. Walker's comments suggest he believes his performance would improve without the burden of weight cutting. The fighter is currently competing at light heavyweight but is considering a permanent move up in weight class.
