Ian Garry has joined Matchroom Talent, the management agency run by boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, in a deal confirmed on June 24, 2026. The signing follows UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall's earlier agreement with the same firm, giving Matchroom a growing footprint in mixed martial arts representation.

Hearn was clear that Matchroom Talent's role with Garry will not extend to UFC contract negotiations, which remain in the hands of Garry's existing team. The agency's focus will instead be on broader commercial and talent management work. Hearn spoke positively about the Irishman's potential, describing him as a future superstar of the sport.

Aspinall, who is already on Matchroom Talent's roster, brings considerable credibility to the agency's MMA portfolio. The 33-year-old Englishman trains out of Team Kaobon, carries a 15-3-0 record, and currently holds the UFC heavyweight title while ranking sixth in the pound-for-pound standings. He is an imposing physical presence at six-foot-five with a 78-inch reach, and his numbers inside the cage are striking — he lands 7.63 significant strikes per minute at 67 percent accuracy, and adds 2.62 takedowns per 15 minutes to round out a well-balanced game.

Why it matters

  • Matchroom Talent now represents two prominent UFC fighters, signaling a deliberate push into MMA management from the boxing world.
  • Garry's UFC contractual dealings remain separate, limiting the immediate impact on his fight-night negotiations but opening doors commercially.
  • Hearn's endorsement of Garry as a potential superstar raises the Irishman's profile ahead of what could be a pivotal stretch in his welterweight career.
