Shara Bullet has disclosed that he contracted dengue fever during a training camp in Thailand ahead of his fight against Barrío, spending roughly two weeks bedridden with a fever of 40°C, skin sores, and hair loss. He traveled to Abu Dhabi in a severely weakened state but still competed and won. After the fight he underwent surgery and spent two days unable to sleep before a two-week period of breathing difficulties during his recovery.
