Shara Magomedov has detailed how he contracted dengue fever during a training camp in Thailand ahead of his fight with Barrio, spending two weeks bedridden with a 40-degree fever, skin breakouts, and hair loss. He flew to Abu Dhabi still ill and managed to win the fight, only to end up on the operating table in the days that followed. Magomedov said he was unable to sleep for two days after the surgery while his body remained in a heightened state, and that breathing difficulties persisted for two weeks thereafter.
