Shara Bullet has disclosed that he contracted dengue fever during a training camp in Thailand ahead of his bout with Barrio, spending roughly two weeks bedridden with a 40°C fever, skin sores, and hair loss. He flew to Abu Dhabi in a weakened state and still managed to win the fight. Immediately after the bout he underwent surgery and spent two more days unable to sleep before a two-week stretch in which he struggled to breathe.
