A late change has shaken up the heavyweight card at UFC Oklahoma City on July 18, with Allen Frye Jr. withdrawing from his scheduled fight against Alvin Hines. Stepping in on short notice is RJ Harris, an undefeated fighter who has signed with the promotion specifically to take the bout.

Alvin "Goozie" Hines enters the contest carrying a 7-1-0 record at 34 years of age. The six-foot-two, 188-centimeter heavyweight fights out of an orthodox stance and brings a 74-inch reach to the cage. Hines has shown notable offensive output in his UFC run, landing 5.47 significant strikes per minute, and also adds a takedown threat at one per 15 minutes.

Frye Jr., who now exits the card, had compiled a 6-1-0 record at just 28 years old. The orthodox heavyweight stood six-foot-five at 196 centimeters with an impressive 80-inch reach and posted a 38 percent striking accuracy mark across his career.

Harris arrives as a promotional newcomer with an undefeated record, though his verified data was not available at the time of this report.

Why it matters

  • Hines remains on the card but faces a different opponent with an unknown UFC track record, altering the preparation dynamic significantly.
  • Harris earns his promotional debut on a marquee UFC event, a high-stakes introduction for any newcomer.
  • The heavyweight division is always thin on ranked depth, meaning an impressive performance from either man could quickly draw divisional attention.
  • Frye Jr.'s withdrawal removes what would have been an intriguing matchup given his considerable size and reach advantages over Hines.
