Reports emerged on July 15 that the UFC has parted ways with middleweight Sedriques "The Reaper" Dumas, though the move has not yet been officially confirmed by the promotion.

According to the report, Dumas compiled a 3-5 record with one no-contest during his time on the UFC roster, and was riding a three-fight losing streak at the moment of his reported release. His overall professional record now stands at 10-5-0.

The 30-year-old American trains out of Team Remedy BJJ and MMA and competes as an orthodox fighter at middleweight. Standing six-foot-two with a 79-inch reach, Dumas brought a physical profile that seemed well-suited to the division. His UFC run showed a measured approach on the feet, averaging two significant strikes landed per minute at a 44 percent accuracy rate, while also contributing on the grappling side with 1.34 takedowns per 15 minutes.

Why it matters

  • A three-fight skid inside the UFC is typically difficult to recover from on the roster, making the reported cut unsurprising given the promotion's roster management patterns.
  • At 30 years old, Dumas has time to rebuild on the regional or mid-level circuit and potentially work his way back to the top level.
  • His combination of striking and takedown ability at 10-5-0 overall makes him a credible signing for organizations competing for UFC-caliber talent.

Because the release is as yet unconfirmed, the situation should be treated as a developing story until the UFC or Dumas's management makes an official statement.
