Sam Alvey signs multi-fight deal with BKFC
Quick read

Former UFC fighter Sam Alvey has signed a multi-fight contract with BKFC, the promotion announced on October 2. The 40-year-old made 24 UFC appearances and holds the promotion's record for the longest winless streak, going eight losses and one draw across his last nine bouts before leaving in 2022. Since then he has competed in striking-only rulesets, including a Karate Combat heavyweight title run, and he defeated Uriah Hall in his most recent outing.

Sam Alvey is heading to bare-knuckle fighting. BKFC announced on October 2 that the former UFC middleweight has signed a multi-fight contract with the promotion.

Alvey, 40, arrives after a long run in the Octagon, where he made 24 appearances. He left the UFC in 2022, and in his last nine bouts there he went eight losses and one draw, a skid that left him holding the promotion's record for the longest winless streak. His career has not ended with that stretch. Since departing, he has competed under striking-only rulesets, including a heavyweight title run with Karate Combat, and he beat Uriah Hall in his most recent outing.

A native of the United States who trains with Team Quest, Alvey carries an overall record of 33-18-1. The southpaw stands six-foot-two, or 188 cm, with a 75-inch reach of 191 cm. He is known by the nickname "Smile'N" and built his reputation on stand-up fighting rather than grappling.

The numbers back that up. Alvey lands 3.28 significant strikes per minute at 44 percent accuracy, while averaging just 0.06 takedowns and 0.1 submission attempts per 15 minutes. That profile points to a fighter who has long preferred to trade on the feet, which makes the move to a striking-only ruleset a natural fit.

Why it matters

  • BKFC adds a recognizable name with 24 UFC appearances to its roster, with a multi-fight commitment rather than a one-off.
  • Alvey's recent success in striking-only competition, including the win over Hall, suggests he arrives with momentum rather than as a fighter in decline.
  • His reach and southpaw stance, paired with a stand-up-heavy career, translate directly to bare-knuckle rules where takedowns play no role.

No opponent or debut date has been announced.
