Valter Walker, riding a five-fight first-round submission winning streak in the UFC heavyweight division, has publicly targeted Derrick Lewis as his preferred next opponent. Walker told MMA Junkie he is targeting a return in October or November and views the stylistic contrast — his leg-lock game against Lewis's record-setting knockout power — as a compelling matchup. Lewis or fellow rising contender Josh Hokit are the two names Walker has his sights set on.

The $100,000 performance bonuses from UFC Abu Dhabi have been awarded. Rizvan Kunyev and Tyrell Forthen earned Fight of the Night honors, while Ramazan Temirov and Walter Walker each took a Performance of the Night award. All fighters who earned a finish without receiving a main bonus and who made weight will receive an additional $25,000.

Walter Walker recorded his fifth consecutive first-round submission victory at UFC Abu Dhabi, this time defeating Thomas Petersen with a calf slicer — a rarely used technique previously landed by only two other men in UFC history, Charles Oliveira and Brett Jones. The win ties Walker with Demian Maia for the most consecutive submission victories in the modern UFC era and equals Rusimar Palhares' record for most leg-lock wins in the promotion. Walker controlled Petersen from his back after dragging him to the canvas from a clinch, executing the submission even as his opponent attempted to crawl to safety.
