The clock shows the official time elapsed in round one. Ties go to the earlier bout, so the three 0:14 finishes appear in date order. The 25 rows run from 0:09 through 0:39, across eight listed divisions.
How this list is counted
AgentMMA starts with every UFC result stored in its UFC Stats-derived bout database. This query keeps submission wins that ended in round one and have a recorded official time. That leaves 885 qualifying submissions between March 11, 1994, and October 17, 2026.
The list sorts those bouts by the official finish clock, from lowest to highest. When two or more times match, the earlier fight ranks first. It doesn't break ties by title stakes, opponent quality or submission type.
Only UFC bouts count. A submission from PRIDE, Strikeforce, Bellator or a regional show can appear in a fighter's professional record. It can't move this UFC list. An overturned win is stored as a no-contest and no longer counts as a submission win.
You may see Ronda Rousey's 0:14 listed as the UFC record elsewhere. The UFC's online Record Book covers UFC 28 onward, so it leaves out Taktarov, Charles and other earlier results. UFC's own anniversary history still identifies Taktarov's 0:09 finish as the quickest submission in its full history.
Notable names on the list
Oleg Taktarov: the nine-second benchmark
Taktarov caught Anthony Macias in 0:09 at UFC 6. That 1995 result remains alone at the top more than three decades later. UFC also names it as the promotion's quickest submission in its historical material. Taktarov last competed in 2008 and then focused on acting, so this record isn't part of an active run.
Ronda Rousey: 0:14 in a title fight
Rousey submitted Cat Zingano in 0:14 at UFC 184. It is the fastest submission in the UFC's post-UFC 28 Record Book and the quickest title-fight submission on this table. She returned for one non-UFC bout in May 2026, submitted Gina Carano in 17 seconds, then announced another retirement. That comeback doesn't affect a UFC-only ranking.
Chas Skelly: 0:19 at featherweight
Skelly's 0:19 finish over Maximo Blanco is the first featherweight entry. UFC's divisional Record Book also places it first among featherweight submissions in its covered era. A UFC preview called his February 2022 bout with Mark Striegl his final walk. His place can now only move down as new official results arrive.
Abdul Rakhman Yakhyaev: the newest entry
Yakhyaev submitted Rafael Cerqueira in 0:33 in November 2025. It is the newest result among these 25 rows. UFC reported the finish as a rear-naked choke and his first UFC win. He remained active in 2026, making him the clearest current name on a list led mostly by past-era fighters.
What a fast submission does and doesn't prove
A short clock measures one thing: how quickly the official result arrived. It doesn't measure the full depth of a fighter's grappling. An early mistake, a clean opening attack and the rules of the era can all shape the time.
The divisions also matter. Four of the first 10 rows come from open-weight bouts, where early UFC formats differed from today's cards. Modern weight classes, matchmaking and preparation create a different setting. Compare the times directly, but don't treat them as a complete ranking of submission skill.
This table also says nothing about frequency. A fighter with one 20-second submission can rank above someone with many slower finishes. For volume and technique patterns, use Most submissions and Most common UFC submissions.

How solid is this data?
The population is 885 first-round UFC submission wins with a recorded time. The study spans 1994-03-11 through 2026-10-17 and was computed on 2026-10-21. Bouts outside the UFC are excluded, even when they count toward a fighter's professional record.
Results follow UFC Stats as stored in AgentMMA's database. If a result is overturned, it counts as a no-contest rather than a win. Finish times are the official times. A broadcast clock or fan-made compilation may differ by one second.
The biggest comparison limit is scope. UFC's public Record Book begins at UFC 28, while this study reaches back to UFC 2. AgentMMA refreshes this maintained page when a new result changes the order, or when the underlying result record changes.
