Azamat Murzakanov enters UFC 327 undefeated at 16-0 overall, 6-0 in UFC

Azamat Murzakanov steps into UFC 327 on April 11 as one of the light heavyweight division's most quietly dangerous contenders, carrying a near-perfect professional record into what figures to be another high-stakes octagon appearance.

The 37-year-old Russian, who fights out of K Dojo Warrior Tribe under the nickname "The Professional," holds a verified record of 16-1-0, with six of those wins coming inside the UFC octagon. Murzakanov has finished opponents at a remarkable rate throughout his career, with 12 of his 16 victories ending by stoppage. He is currently on a three-fight run of knockout or technical knockout wins, and has recorded four one-punch knockout victories that required no follow-up strikes — three with punches and one with a knee. Standing five-foot-ten with a 71-inch reach, Murzakanov fights out of a southpaw stance and lands an impressive 4.7 significant strikes per minute at a striking accuracy of 57 percent. His grappling output is measured, averaging just 0.55 takedowns per 15 minutes and no submission attempts.

Before establishing himself in MMA, Murzakanov built a decorated combat sports background, winning four world championships in hand-to-hand combat and earning the title of Honored Master of Sports in the discipline. That base has clearly informed the finishing instinct he brings to the cage.

Why it matters

• Ranked 12th in the UFC light heavyweight division, Murzakanov is well positioned to push into title contention with a strong showing.
• His three-fight KO streak and one-punch finishing ability make him a genuine threat to any opponent in the 205-pound weight class.
• A southpaw with high striking accuracy and serious power presents a difficult stylistic puzzle for divisional opponents.
