Ankalaev, ranked first in the light heavyweight division and fifth pound-for-pound, carries a record of 21-2-1 and is one of the most dangerous wrestlers at 205 pounds. The 34-year-old Russian, who trains out of Gorets Fight Club, stands six-foot-three with a 75-inch reach and averages 0.79 takedowns per 15 minutes. In his social media post, he told Prochazka not to speak about him unless he was prepared to actually fight, and offered a separate congratulations to Carlos Ulberg despite Ulberg having also called him out.

Prochazka, currently ranked second at light heavyweight, brings a record of 32-6-1 into any potential negotiation. The 33-year-old from the Czech Republic trains out of Jetsaam Gym Brno and is one of the division's most aggressive strikers, landing 5.69 significant strikes per minute at 55 percent accuracy. He stands six-foot-three with an imposing 80-inch reach.

Why it matters

  • Ankalaev at number one and Prochazka at number two makes this a title-eliminator or title-fight-level matchup in waiting
  • A grappling-heavy Ankalaev against two elite strikers in Prochazka and Ulberg raises clear stylistic intrigue at the top of the division
  • Ulberg's own callout of Ankalaev adds a third contender into the conversation, complicating the path forward for the light heavyweight title picture
