Carlos Ulberg seized the UFC light heavyweight championship at UFC 327 on April 11, stopping former titleholder Jiri Prochazka by knockout at 3:45 of the first round. The finish earned Ulberg a Performance of the Night bonus.

Prochazka, the 33-year-old Czech contender ranked second in the division, entered the bout carrying a 32-6-1 record and one of the most aggressive output rates in the light heavyweight division, landing 5.69 significant strikes per minute at 55 percent accuracy. Standing six-foot-three with an 80-inch reach, the Jetsaam Gym Brno product was considered one of the most dangerous finishers in the weight class, but Ulberg denied him the chance to get his offensive game going.

In the co-main event, Paulo Costa made a move up to light heavyweight and knocked out Azamat Murzakanov, who entered ranked sixth in the division, in the third round. Costa, a 35-year-old Brazilian middleweight ranked thirteenth at 185 pounds, carries a 16-4 record and lands an eye-catching 6.26 significant strikes per minute at 58 percent accuracy.

Mateusz Gamrot submitted Esteban Ribovics in round two of their lightweight contest. Ribovics, a 30-year-old Argentine known as El Gringo, came in at 15-3 and was averaging a remarkable 8.09 significant strikes per minute, but he could not keep the fight standing long enough to make that volume count.

Tatiana Suarez submitted Lupita Godinez, and veteran featherweight Cub Swanson stopped Nate Landwehr by TKO in the first round, with Swanson leaving his gloves in the octagon in what appeared to be a retirement gesture.
