Dana White shared the story of how they organized an additional bout for the upcoming White House event literally within an hour during UFC 327. He explained that he asked Derrick Lewis if he wanted to compete at the White House, and Lewis immediately agreed, saying to thank the president. White then instructed matchmaker Mick Maynard to find an opponent for Lewis, initially planning to finalize it the following week. However, when Joe Rogan mentioned the White House card during the broadcast, White realized they needed to act immediately. Maynard rushed to speak with Josh Hockit, who was being loaded into an ambulance at the time, and secured his agreement for the fight.
