Russian fighter Mark Vologdin is preparing for his UFC debut at age 25. Despite losing a decision on Dana White's Contender Series in October, both Vologdin and his opponent received contracts due to the exciting nature of the fight, with Dana White giving a standing ovation. Vologdin holds a record of 12-4-1 with six knockouts and four submissions. He represents Petrozavodsk in the Republic of Karelia and is a master of sport in Kyokushin karate. His opponent will be experienced veteran John Castaneda, who holds a 4-4 UFC record and last fought exactly one year ago, losing a split decision to Chris Gutierrez.
