Merab Dvalishvili has stated that while he likes Arman Tsarukyan as a fighter, he believes Ilia Topuria will defeat him. Dvalishvili predicts Tsarukyan will be unable to take Topuria down and will be knocked out when he tries to box with the Georgian featherweight. Discussing his rematch with Petr Yan, Dvalishvili said Yan was the only fighter who could have beaten him that day, crediting Yan's unique style and preparation. Dvalishvili recalled being hurt badly by Yan's body kicks during their fight, saying the pain was so intense in the second instance that he had to pressure forward because he couldn't escape. He also mentioned that Carlos Ulberg lost his championship belt at a party.
