Topuria reveals Makhachev fight was hours from announcement before injury

Ilia Topuria disclosed that his fight with Islam Makhachev at the White House event was nearly official just hours before the full card announcement. Topuria stated he went to bed knowing he would face Makhachev, only to be woken by numerous calls informing him that Islam had sustained an injury and he would instead fight Justin Gaethje. Despite the setback, Topuria expressed that he is not disappointed by the cancellation. He believes the Makhachev bout should happen sooner or later.
