Topuria: Makhachev fight was hours from being announced before injury

Ilia Topuria revealed he was just hours away from the official announcement of his fight against Islam Makhachev at the White House event before it fell through. Topuria said he knew he would be fighting Makhachev and that they would announce the bout, but then received a call saying Islam had suffered an injury and he would fight Gaethje instead. He went to sleep thinking he would fight Islam, only to be woken up by numerous phone calls about the change. Despite the setback, Topuria stated he is not disappointed and believes the fight should happen sooner or later.
