Topuria says Islam Makhachev fight at White House was hours from being announced

Ilia Topuria revealed that he was just hours away from an official announcement of his fight against Islam Makhachev at the White House event. Topuria stated he went to bed knowing he would fight Makhachev and that the bout was set to be announced. However, he was woken up by numerous phone calls informing him that Islam had sustained an injury and that he would instead face Justin Gaethje. Despite the change, Topuria says he is not disappointed the Makhachev fight fell through. He expressed belief that the fight should happen eventually.
