Topuria says Makhachev fight at White House was hours from being announced

Ilia Topuria revealed that his fight against Islam Makhachev at the White House event was nearly official before it fell through. According to Topuria, he was told just a couple of hours before the full card announcement that he would be fighting Makhachev and the bout would be revealed. He went to sleep knowing he would face Islam, but woke up to many phone calls informing him that Makhachev had sustained an injury and he would instead fight Max Holloway (referred to as Gaeji). Despite the last-minute change, Topuria says he is not disappointed and believes the Makhachev fight should happen eventually.
