Topuria says he learned of Makhachev injury hours before White House event

Ilia Topuria revealed he is not disappointed that his fight against Islam Makhachev at the White House event fell through. Topuria stated that just hours before the full card announcement at the White House, he knew he would be fighting Makhachev and that the bout would be officially announced. However, he received a phone call informing him that Islam had sustained an injury and he would instead fight Justin Gaethje. Topuria went to bed believing he would face Makhachev, only to wake up to numerous phone calls about the change. He expressed confidence that the fight with Makhachev will eventually happen.
