Azamat Bostanov, now a fighter manager, recalls his experience covering Khabib Nurmagomedov's title win at UFC 223 in Brooklyn eight years ago. After Bostanov interviewed Artem Lobov following the infamous confrontation with Nurmagomedov, manager Ali Abdelaziz told him not to approach their team. However, Nurmagomedov intervened, putting his arm around Bostanov and telling Abdelaziz that he was "our guy" just doing his job. The journalist also remembers 20-30 Dagestanis gathering at the hotel entrance to protect Nurmagomedov from potential Conor McGregor provocations. Despite being exhausted after winning the belt, Nurmagomedov took time to meet with supporters, take photos, and speak with well-wishers crowding his hotel room and hallway.
