Azamat Bostanov, now an MMA manager, recalled his experience covering Khabib Nurmagomedov's title win at UFC 223 eight years ago. After Bostanov interviewed Artem Lobov following the infamous altercation with Khabib, manager Ali Abdelaziz angrily told him to stay away from their team. However, Khabib intervened, putting his arm around Bostanov and telling Abdelaziz that Bostanov was "our guy" just doing his job. Bostanov also remembered a large group of Dagestanis gathering at the hotel to protect Khabib from potential provocations by Conor McGregor's team. Despite being exhausted after winning the belt, Khabib spent time greeting fans, taking photos, and talking to well-wishers who packed the hotel floor and his room. Bostanov emphasized that Khabib remained the same approachable and kind person in subsequent years, even once stopping his car to greet Bostanov on a Moscow street.
