Fight manager Azamat Bostanov has shared memories from Khabib Nurmagomedov's UFC 223 title victory eight years ago in Brooklyn. Bostanov, who was a young YouTube journalist at the time, recalls how manager Ali Abdelaziz initially told him to stay away from the team, but Khabib intervened and welcomed him, saying he was just doing his job. Bostanov also remembers how 20-30 Dagestanis gathered at the hotel to protect Khabib from potential provocations from Conor McGregor's team. He noted that Zabit Magomedsharipov fought on the same card with two broken fingers, which he hid from the athletic commission. After the event, despite being exhausted, Khabib took time to meet with fans, take photos, and speak with supporters who crowded the hotel floor and his room. Bostanov emphasized that Khabib remained the same humble, approachable person even after multiple title defenses.
