The 26-year-old fighter from North Ossetia has been living in the United States for four years and trains at Kill Cliff gym. This marked Kulshin's sixth fight and sixth victory in LFA over three years. His previous four LFA wins came by decision, with his debut in the promotion ending in knockout. After the fight, Kulshin called out the UFC on the microphone, stating he is ready to step in on short notice at any time.
