Ilia Topuria claimed he was told he would fight Islam Makhachev at the White House event, but hours before the announcement Makhachev withdrew due to injury and Topuria was matched with Gaethje instead. Islam Makhachev countered that he accepted the White House fight, but the next day was told Topuria requested a huge purse and was denied. Makhachev stated that Topuria turned down the fight and accused him of lying. Meanwhile, Jorge Masvidal and Orion Cosce picked Sean Strickland to beat Khamzat Chimaev, with Masvidal calling Chimaev's style "sitting and smelling crotches." Dricus du Plessis named Israel Adesanya as his most technical opponent and Sean Strickland and Brad Tavares as his toughest, not counting his brief encounter with Chimaev as a real fight. UFC 327 fighters have earned a combined 92 bonuses in their careers.
