MMA manager Azamat Bostanov shared detailed memories of Khabib Nurmagomedov's UFC 223 title victory in Brooklyn eight years ago. Bostanov recalled interviewing Artem Lobov after the famous confrontation with Khabib, which led to manager Ali Abdelaziz telling him to stay away from their team, but Khabib intervened saying "he's our guy, he's just doing his job." Bostanov described 20-30 Dagestanis gathering at the hotel ready to confront Conor McGregor's team if they arrived. He also revealed that Zabit Magomedsharipov broke two fingers during warmups but fought anyway without telling the athletic commission to avoid being pulled from the card. After the event, Khabib's hotel floor was packed with people, many of whom he didn't know, but he took time to greet everyone, take photos, and talk to fans via video calls. Bostanov emphasized that despite later title defenses, Khabib remained approachable and kind, even offering him a ride home a year later when he spotted him on the street.
