Bogdan Guskov has expressed his desire to fight Paulo Costa in the Octagon. According to Ivo Baranieski, he agreed to face Guskov, but Guskov did not accept the bout. Guskov's coach Gor Azizyan stated that Baranieski started the verbal exchanges and that after beating Sergey Kopylov and Azamat Murzakanov, Baranieski became overconfident. Azizyan suggested Baranieski should stop talking about Russian fighters if he refuses to fight Guskov. Guskov positioned himself as a Russian fighter willing to step into the cage anytime.
